Julius Meinl releases ‘next-generation’ 1862 coffee machine

Vienna-based coffee roaster Julius Meinl has unveiled a new coffee machine, which leverages the latest coffee preparation technology to allow baristas to achieve the perfect coffee.

Developed to enhance its international coffee offering, the 1862 Premium New coffee machine is the next generation of the existing 1862 line, and has been built using advanced technology and design.

The machine features an inbuilt automatic tamper developed by Puqpress, a super-premium Espresso machine by Cimbali and a high-tech grinder with portafilter recognition by Mahlkönig.

Julius Meinl head of innovation Christina Meinl said: “With consumers growing more discerning about their coffee, the horeca industry is on a quest for perfection.

Turning to tech is the natural step, but removing human hands entirely from the equation and delegating these tasks to a machine would diminish the experience.

“For that reason, we made it our mission to answer the call for improvement, making sure that our customers have a coffee experience that’s personally satisfying and exceeds their expectations every time.

We’ve worked with world-leading industry experts to find a balance between craftsmanship and technique, and the consistency that smart technology can provide. This is the future of coffee service.”

At the heart of the concept is a three-chambered Aroma Fez bean hopper that allows the beans to stay fresher for longer.

Combined with Julius Meinl’s 1862 Premium New blend, the coffee machine helps to deliver ‘an exceptional coffee with rich, chocolatey notes together with a smooth aftertaste’.
