The coffee world owes a lot to women. In smallholder coffee farms, women do most of the productive work.
However, the huge contribution they make in the production of coffee often still goes unpaid and unrecognised.
Not only do they not gain financially, but they are usually not included in decision making within their coffee co-operative, community or even household.
Thankfully, things are changing. Female empowerment is growing. Today, there are more and more women working in all stages of coffee chain with excellent levels of professionalism, although a lot still needs to be done to reach real gender equality.
For this special day, Comunicaffè International wishes a happy Women’s Day to all Women in Coffee.
