MILAN – Costa Coffee has opened a state-of-the-art Drive-Thru store – a first of its kind for the coffee chain – located off the A52 in Edwalton, Nottingham. The new site, which opened last month (Thursday 7 January), comprises a store and a Drive-Thru lane and features a range of enhanced digital features and new product offerings from food right through to a twist on Costa Coffee’s famous signature Mocha-Italia Signature Blend.

With a range of new offerings

A stand-out addition of the store includes the new intelligent digital menu boards, which are located both behind the counter and as you enter the Drive-Thru lane, providing coffee-lovers with the most up-to-date handcrafted drinks available to purchase. These intelligent screens also ensure the menu’s product information can be updated quickly and efficiently, to further enhance the service offered to customers visiting the new store.

That’s not all! Those on-the-go can pull in to use Costa Coffee’s mobile ordering service at the store and enjoy a limited contact service. Once their order is placed, one of Costa Coffee’s expert baristas will place their completed order inside one of the newly introduced designated lockers, located next to the counter inside the store. The state-of-the-art lockers have a glass door and will clearly label the customer’s name and order.

A UK first for the coffee market: Costa introduces half-caffeine

Costa Coffee is introducing a first for the UK coffee market by offering customers the chance to personalise the amount of caffeine in their signature handcrafted coffee. Launched exclusively as part of the new Drive-Thru store, coffee lovers can choose from three different caffeine levels: standard caffeine, half-caffeine or decaf. With absolutely no compromise on taste, the newly developed Intensely Rich Half-Caffeine Coffee is delivered with the help of a state-of-the-art grinder, which can cleverly accommodate the multiple blends.

Jamie Awdry, Head of Propositions at Costa Coffee, said: “We were delighted to open this new look Drive-Thru store last month! As with all our Drive-Thru lanes, it will offer busy on-the-go coffee lovers, currently out on essential journeys, the opportunity to collect their favourite coffee, without even having to step out of their car. The all-new digital menu boards and the bespoke collection lockers allow for a limited-contact service and are sure to enhance the customer experience even further.

“The store offers customers even more choice than ever before. From bespoke menu items, including fresh salads and delicious sandwich selections to customer-facing recycling points, free water refill stations and electric vehicle charging points – we’ve included something for everyone!”

Safety remains our number one priority

The safety of our team members and customers is our number one priority and we have implemented strict measures to ensure we operate safely and in line with Government guidelines.** All stores are equipped with protective equipment for team members, hand sanitiser stations and floor signs to help social distancing guidelines. High-quality Perspex screens have also been installed at the counter and across our Drive-Thru lanes we’ve introduced bespoke one of a kind serving hatches, allowing customers to collect their order with limited contact from our team members.
