BOGOTÁ, Colombia — Colombian coffee production rose to one million 50,000 bags (60-kg) in March, up 30% from the 806,000 bags produced in the same month of 2020, reports FNC in its monthly figures. So far this year (January-March), the coffee crop exceeds 3.2 million bags, up 13% from the almost 2.9 million produced a year earlier.
So far this coffee year (October 2020-March 2021), production was almost 7.6 million bags, 2% more than the 7.4 million produced a year earlier. And in the last 12 months (April 2020-March 2021), production reached 14.3 million bags, almost the same production of the same previous period.
Colombian coffee exports grow in line with production
Colombian coffee exports in March exceeded 1.1 million 60-kg bags, up 21% from the 948,000 bags exported in March 2020.
In the first quarter of this year (January-March), the coffee crop sold abroad reached 3.5 million bags, 13% more than the 3.1 million bags exported in the same period of the previous year.
In the coffee year (October 2020-March 2021), exports exceeded 7.1 million bags, up 4% from almost 6.9 million bags exported a year earlier.
And in the last 12 months (April 2020-March 2021), exports fell 2% to 12.9 million 60-kg bags from 13.2 million bags exported a year earlier.
