LONG BEACH, Calif. US – Simeon Bricker of The Roasterie in Kansas City, MO has been named the winner of the 1st Annual United States Latte Art Championship, which took place April 24-27, 2014 in Seattle, WA at the 26th annual SCAA Event.
The U.S. Latte Art Championship recognizes artistic baristas from across the country who create championship quality lattes for 2 visual judges, 1 head judge, and 1 technical judge.

The top six U.S. Latte Art Championship competitors for 2014 are:
1st Place – Simeon Bricker – The Roasterie – Kansas City, MO
2nd Place – Eugene Lee – Cafe Dulce – Glendale, CA
3rd Place – Kyle Dols – Morsel – Seattle, WA
4th Place – Dean Kallivrousis – Onyx Coffee Lab – Springdale, AR
5th Place – Row Aczon – Honolulu Coffee Co. – Honolulu, HI
6th Place – Donald Morrison – De Cafe Baristas, Pasadena, CA
During Round 1, each of the 14 competitors made 2 free pour lattes and 2 designer lattes on stage for their judges in a 6 minute presentation as well as creating a unique and artistic design off stage in the Art Bar portion of this round.
Free pouring, etching, and use of dyes on the surface of the latte was allowed in the Art Bar, which allowed for competitors to express their creativity through patterns.
The 6 top competitors from Round 1 moved on to the finals where they made 2 macchiatos, 2 free pour lattes, and 2 designer lattes for judges in an 8-minute performance. In both rounds, competitors were judged on their foam quality, difficulty of design, ability to reproduce their design, and creativity.
Simeon Bricker will represent the United States at the World Latte Art Championship in Melbourne, Australia, May 15-18, 2014.
