UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – Coffee Planet signs deal with Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo

DUBAI – Coffee Planet, the United Arab Emirates’ freshest home grown coffee brand has announced the launch of its coffee bags in the Netherlands in partnership with Dutch supermarket giant Jumbo.

The brand new range of UTZ Certified coffee blends goes on sale in 340 stores throughout the country from September 2013 onwards.

As the first agreement with a major retailer outside of the UAE, the partnership with Jumbo Supermarkets reflects the strategic vision of UAE originated Coffee Planet to export its brand to key markets around the globe.

Already present with café franchise operations in 4 countries (UAE, Oman, Malaysia, Pakistan) and opening stores soon in Qatar, as well as wholesale distribution channels in four others (KSA, Kuwait, South Africa, Azerbaijan), this new success reflects Coffee Planet’s continued objective of expanding its regional and international presence as a leading coffee distributor.

Commenting on the partnership, Robert Jones, Managing Director of Coffee Planet said: “We are very lucky to have such a strong and innovative partner in Jumbo who, as The Netherlands second largest and fastest growing retailer, supports another step towards our vision of achieving global coffee brand status – extending our control over the sourcing, roasting and distributing of the finest quality coffee beans served anywhere.”

coffee-planet-5 As part of the six month launch plan, Coffee Planet’s Roastmaster worked closely with a strategic partner, Autobar Coffee Roasters, who will roast Coffee Planet’s unique blends under licence locally in the Netherlands, to maintain the freshness of the coffee on the shelf, a key brand value of Coffee Planet.

Robert Jones continued: “Having spent the last 6 months designing the UTZ Certified blends and perfecting the roasting method to match the high quality and consistency of our Dubai operations, we are confident this new and exciting high-quality range of coffee blends will create a great buzz and following for our brand in The Netherlands.”

With plans to expand the distribution to 500 stores in 2014, Category Manager Gijs Kroeze from Jumbo said: “We believe the Coffee Planet brand is very innovative and fresh and its the arrival on our shelves will really improve the image and sales potential of the coffee fixture in our stores.

Our new partnership with Coffee Planet also reflects our passion for sourcing the very best quality produce from around the globe. As well as exporting to The Netherlands, a range of Coffee Planet 250g coffee blends is now available at all Spinneys’ and Waitrose supermarkets in the UAE, expanding on their existing availability on the shelves in Carrefour, Geant & Park n Shop stores
