CAVAILLON – ID Logistics, one of the French leaders in contract logistics, is announcing that it has been selected by Nespresso, a subsidiary of the Nestlé group and world leader in coffee pods, to manage all its logistics operations in the South of France.

From 1 July 2014, the logistics provider will manage all of Nespresso’s logistics operations from a single platform at Saulce-sur-Rhône (Drôme department). The 9,000m² facility will be made up of two cells and have close to 60 employees.

Nespresso will reap the benefit of:

– ID Logistics’ expertise in retail order fulfilment, which was significantly enhanced by its July 2013 acquisition of CEPL, the French leader in order fulfilment solutions (€180 million in revenues from fragrances, cosmetics and home entertainment products),

– its expertise in more traditional distribution logistics for fulfilling orders from Nespresso stores,

– the Group’s know-how in integrating IT systems. All the flows will be handled on A-Sis’ LM XT system, a specialised WMS solution that has proven its worth in retail order fulfilment processes with a tremendously flexible configuration. Backed by a very rich feature set, versatility and scalability, it interfaces reliably with the order fulfilment systems designed by the Savoye group.

The new platform will handle all order fulfilment for Nespresso’s various distribution channels:

– around 20 Nespresso stores in the South of France,

– the B2B networks (hotels, restaurants, cafés, etc.) served by Nespresso,

– all B2C retail orders via the e-commerce platform at www.nespresso.fr.

Under the contract, ID Logistics will manage all the supply flows, from the receipt of pallets, via transfers to inventory to retail order picking using RF technology and light-picking tables.

Commenting on the deal, Martine Varieras, Nespresso France’s head of operations, said: “We are delighted that ID Logistics will be supporting Nespresso with this new era in the development of our logistics organisation.

It should support our drive for volume growth while constantly improving the quality of service that the members of our Club expect of us and that helps us to stand out in the marketplace.”

Eric Hémar, Chairman and CEO of ID Logistics, added: “The trust Nestlé Nespresso is displaying in us for the first time with this contract represents further evidence of our teams’ commitment to delivering made-to-measure long-term solutions to the needs of our prestigious customers. It also vindicates the decision made last year to make retail order fulfilment a key priority for our expansion.”
