MINNEAPOLIS – Caribou Coffee and yarnbombing artist Eric Rieger, known as HOTTEA, will unveil Caribou Coffee’s Arch of Hope during the 10th Worldwide InstaMeet weekend. The arch spans nearly 60 feet in length and is designed to inspire those impacted by breast cancer as a part of the Caribou Coffee Amy’s Blend Collection.
The installation represents the highs and lows of the cancer journey. The highest point of the arch symbolizes the true spirit of hope. The many strands of yarn, in 14 shades of pink that span from white to hot pink to deep magenta, mirror the brightly striped packaging for Caribou Coffee’s Amy’s Blend. Each stripe and strand represents one of the many uplifting wishes intended to encourage those in the midst of the cancer journey.
“Everyone has been impacted by breast cancer in one way or another,” said artist Eric Rieger. “I was honored to work with Caribou Coffee to create a piece of art that would uplift and inspire those impacted by cancer, their friends and families and the community in downtown Minneapolis.”
Caribou Coffee’s Arch of Hope is hosted in the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivor’s Park in downtown Minneapolis at 250 Marquette Avenue throughout the month of October.
“We’d like to welcome not only Caribou Coffee guests but the entire cancer community and downtown Minneapolis residents and commuters to enjoy the arch,” said Megan Fraboni, public relations manager at Caribou Coffee. “Caribou Coffee’s Arch of Hope is part of a larger effort this October where we are providing different ways to brighten the day of someone impacted by cancer.”
“An uplifting experience can make a significant difference in the life of someone affected by cancer,” said Patricia J. Goldsmith, CEO at CancerCare. “We are thrilled Caribou Coffee is joining us again this October to support and uplift our strong community of patients, survivors, families and friends. This wonderful collaboration allows CancerCare to provide even more help and hope to anyone coping with the emotional and financial challenges that accompany a cancer diagnosis.”
Caribou Coffee created an online campaign, #CaribouUplifts to provide a way for anyone to share in the care by posting a video, photo, comment or story. The company will curate the submissions in an online gallery at CaribouCoffeeUplifts.com to help inspire those affected by cancer.
In its 19th year, Caribou Coffee’s Amy’s Blend Collection supports CancerCare, a national nonprofit organization committed to helping people cope with cancer through counseling, support groups, education and financial assistance. Ten percent of all Amy’s Blend Collection purchases benefit CancerCare. To support, visit a Caribou Coffee store or http://www.cariboucoffee.com/page/1/amyscollection.jsp.
