TRIESTE, Italy – TriestEspresso Expo, the biennial international event in the theme of the espresso coffee trade industry, opens today in Trieste, Italy.
The Opening Conference – Coffee outlook will feature as special guest ICO’s Executive Director Robério Oliveira Silva. The two other eminent speakers will be Patrick Hoffer (President Comitato Italiano Caffè), and Furio Suggi Liverani (President Trieste Coffee Cluster). Massimiliano Fabian, President Associazione Caffè Trieste, will chair the conference.

The most important B2B event focused on the espresso coffee production chain, organized by Aries – Trieste Chamber of Commerce – in collaboration with Assocaffe Trieste, is back for its seventh edition from 23 to 25 October 2014. Edition after edition, the biennial trade fair has acquired a following from the public, reaching a record figure of 10 thousand professionals at the last edition in 2012, establishing itself as a not-to-be-missed event for presenting and discovering the latest developments on the market, with 65% of visitors looking for new products or suppliers.

TRIESTE AND THE NEW LOCATION – It is no coincidence that this important event of the sector is taking place in Trieste, home to a highly specialized industrial cluster, with almost all the links of the coffee production chain represented: logistics, roasting, decaffeination R&D… The outcome of a long tradition, which dates back to the 18th century, when Trieste was the most important port of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The seventh edition of TriestEspresso Expo will bring the aroma of coffee to the old Porto Vecchio, the heart of the old merchantry, because the new location is right next to the warehouses where the sacks of coffee were stored. These warehouses, which also thanks to the establishment of the Free Port, made Trieste the main port of the Hapsburg Empire, providing a decisive impetus to the coffee market.

INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE – “TriestEspresso Expo brings to Trieste the biggest players of the sector from 85 countries,” comments Antonio Paoletti, president of the Chamber of Commerce and Aries. Four out of ten visitors are foreign, and of these two are from the new markets of Central and Eastern Europe, followed closely by Western Europe, Australasia and the Americas. “One of the most striking aspects,” commented Vanusia Nogueira, CEO of BSCA-Brazil Specialty Coffee Association, “is the number of visitors from other countries, which means that TriestEspresso really is an international appointment”.

THE QUALITY OF ESPRESSO COFFEE MADE IN ITALY – Producers of roasted coffee, coffee machines, machinery, accessories and services: the best of made in Italy and elsewhere will be presented with the latest developments at TriestEspresso. Of course there will be no shortage producers of green coffee from the most important areas of production.

AN OVERVIEW OF COFFEE – The seventh edition of TriestEspresso Expo will be enriched with numerous activities: a wide range of training events, opportunities for comparison and discussion of the current trends in the sector, in addition to cultural events in order to be able to savour coffee even in the streets of the centre of Trieste, a beautiful city in the north east of Italy overlooking the sea.
