LUANDA – Angola is taking up the presidency of the Inter-African Coffee Organisation (IACO) on Thursday in Kampala, Uganda, Angop learned.
This is on the last day of the 54th Annual General Meeting of the organisation that brings together the coffee producing countries of the continent.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Angolan delegation to the meeting is headed by the secretary of State for Agriculture, José Amaro Tati.
The source adds that the event includes an approach to the strategy for economic and social development of the sector, and the work programme of the Organisation for the year 2015.
The 54th IACO Annual General Assembly was preceded by the 2nd African Coffee Symposium that went under the theme “Unlocking the potential of the African coffee industry” held on November 17-18 in Kampala.
On the first day, the meeting discussed issues related to robusta coffee, while the second day focused on Arabica coffee, coffee pests and diseases, as well as the effects of global warming in the development of African coffee production.
