MILAN, Binasco (Italy) – Gruppo Cimbali, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of professional espresso machines is launching an initiative dedicated to culture and the future of the coffee industry at the Coffee Technicians Guild Summit, which will be held in Italy in late November.
In fact, Gruppo Cimbali aims to support sustainability and the coffee culture right along the supply chain, promoting three scholarships dedicated to operators in the coffee industry service and maintenance sector.
The scholarships
The grants will enable three technicians to take part in a three-day course on sustainability, super-automatic machines and grinding at the MUMAC Academy free of charge.
Edgardo Ferrero, Group service director of Gruppo Cimbali: “We design and manufacture coffee machines, coming in right at the end of our industry’s long supply chain. We represent the very important last mile: our task is to grind the roasted beans and turn them into a drink. Our role is to make the best machines in the world and guarantee a top-quality beverage that showcases the roast and the sensory qualities of the coffee”.
Ferrero continues: “We feel that it is our responsibility to protect and safeguard all the work that has brought these beans to us and from us to the customer. Spreading the culture of sustainability and coffee is part of this process which involves all stakeholders in this long supply chain; the technicians that deal with the installation and maintenance of the machines are extremely important and are responsible for helping to protect and promote coffee and its production chain.”
Coffee Technicians Guild Summit
The application will be launched during the Coffee Technicians Guild Summit event and it will be possible to apply till December the 31st. The winners of the scholarship will be announced during the World of Coffee in Dubai (11-13th January) and will also receive a financial contribution to cover their expenses and travel costs.
The Sca Coffee Sustainability Program course will be held by Angelo Sportelli, Coffee Specialist of MUMAC Academy and first trainer in Italy certified by Sca to carry out this training.
The training program is aimed at people involved in the various stages of the coffee supply chain and is based on a precise principle: all operators in the sector must adopt a sustainable approach to allow the specialty coffee market to survive and expand.
The sustainability course is certified by Sca and the courses dedicated to grinding and super automatics are certified by Mumac Academy. Both will be held at the Binasco training hub.
