BOGOTA, Colombia – Juan Valdez Café opened a new store in the city of Puerto Montt, southern Chile. The new store is located in the exclusive Mall Costanera inside of the Falabella department store.

This inauguration means that there are now 300 Juan Valdez cafés operating worldwide. Of these 300 stores, 208 are located in 29 Colombian cities; the remaining 13 are located in countries including Malaysia, South Korea, Kuwait, Spain and the United States.

In addition to the Puerto Montt café, a new store is expected to open its doors to the public by mid-December in the city Villa del Mar, inside of the Marina Arauco Mall.

Juan Valdez has become a global benchmark for its inclusive business model of high quality coffees. Not only do producers own the operation and the brand, but they also receive value added.

To date, more than $20.5 million have been generated in royalties for the use of the Juan Valdez brand. These resources are destined to finance public coffee goods that increase the competitiveness of more than 500,000 coffee growing families.

The story of the Juan Valdez brand begins at the heart of Colombia’s mountains with more than 500,000 small coffee growers who harvest only the best beans by hand. It continues with the cautious design of each line by the roasting master and culminates with the preparation of the perfect cup of coffee by our baristas.

“Juan Valdez® has had a great reaction amongst Chilean consumers. We are very pleased with the performance of the business,” noted Sebastian Mejia, CEO of Procafecol Chile.

“We expanded to other regions in response to our customers’ requests. They want to enjoy this coffee, which is globally recognized for its softness, purity and exquisite balance.”

According to Hernán Méndez, President of Procafecol, “We are proud of what we have achieved so far in Chile. It is one of our strongest and most promising markets. We are confident that the quality of our coffee and the warmth of our service will be the best excuse for Chileans to always want to visit us.”
