International Women’s Coffee Alliance announces leadership change, executive director to step down at the end of May

Our commitment to our 33 chapters, and the larger coffee industry remains to be the leader of empowerment and equity for all women in coffee. The search for a new Executive Director who is passionate about the mission, vision, and impact of IWCA will begin soon and we look forward to Dr. Krishnan continuing in an advisory role and assisting in the transition to new leadership"

SPRINGFIELD, IL, USA – The International Women’s Coffee Alliance (IWCA) Executive Director, Sarada Krishnan, will be leaving the organization when her contract expires at the end of May 2023. Currently, Dr. Krishnan also holds a position with the Crop Trust in Bonn, Germany. The Crop Trust is dedicated to conserving and making crop diversity available for use globally, forever, and for the benefit of everyone.

In her role, Dr. Krishnan is responsible for providing oversight, along with a team of scientists and project managers, on the implementation of projects and programs designed to secure and safeguard the foundations of the world’s food supply through the world’s national, regional, and international gene banks.

Dr. Krishnan’s specialties include an interest in coffee genetic resources, and she has an interest in the empowerment of women and small-holder farmers. As a coffee farmer herself, she has brought her extensive experience to helping IWCA unite our global network of chapters and has supported the work and growth of women in the international coffee community. She has elevated the organization to the next level with our chapters, partnerships, and other stakeholders.

Dr. Krishnan will be at the Specialty Coffee Association Expo in Portland and looks forward to connecting with all those in attendance at the IWCA Breakfast on Saturday, April 22.
