PARIS, France – In producing countries, more and more green coffee is consumed by roasting it on site: in order to support this evolution and to promote it, AVPA – the Agency for the Valorization of Agricultural Products, based in Paris – is offering producers (individual or organized in associations or cooperatives) who take responsibility for their roasting and roasters located in the countries of production who guarantee the traceability of their coffees, to participate in the contest “Coffees roasted at the origin“.
The AVPA contest has earned a remarkable place among exceptional coffee producers who attain excellence by becoming the processors and tasters of their own harvests, like, for instance, French winemakers, Italian producers of olive oil or Chinese tea growers.
Coffees that come from exceptional terroirs are roasted with love and passion in their country of origin, whether it is in Brazil, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Hawaii, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Uganda, Peru, the Philippines, Rwanda, Togo, or Vietnam, …
The jury of the competition is chaired by Alice Juguet and, in its latest edition, nearly 200 exceptional coffees spread over some 25 countries on 4 continents were tasted in two distinct parts: either in espresso mode or in unfiltered infusion.
The jury of the 9th “Coffees Roasted at Origin” AVPA International Contest will gather in Paris, in June, to taste them using a methodology that has been tried and tested and is now recognized internationally.
