PORTLAND, USA – Some of Brazil’s best specialty coffee is heading to the US to be showcased at the highly prestigious and biggest event of its kind in North America – the Specialty Coffee Expo in Portland, Oregon. Coffee lovers can expect to indulge in some unique varieties such as Arara, Catuaí, MGS Paraíso among others, with exceptional sensory notes such as floral, citrus, red fruits, chocolate and nuts between April 21 to 23.
BSCA will be at stand number 1935, with 29 producers from across Brazil. To top this off, buyers will be able to take part in eight cupping sessions on all three days of the event at 11am, 1pm, 3pm. In addition, one specialty coffee brew bar will serve espresso and filtered coffee for anyone who wants to try it!
The promotion is part of the sectoral project “Brazil. The Coffee Nation“, promoted by BSCA (Brazil Specialty Coffee Association) and ApexBrasil (Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency).
“The American market is the largest consumer in the world and present a lot of opportunities for Brazilian Specialty Coffee. We are very excited to be able to connect even more with them, and in this sense, we have been carrying out actions in the market throughout the years with a view to serving from trade to barista” said Vinicius Estrela, BSCA’s Executive Director.
Brazil is the largest coffee exporter in the world, there are 34 producing regions, with more than 150 varieties with sensory profiles that goes beyond the traditional. Last year 122 countries bought Brazilian coffee and 39.5 million 60kg bags were exported, valued at USD 9.2 billion, which is a record.
The biggest importer of Brazilian coffee for several years, continues to be the United States. The world’s biggest consumer of coffee, USA, bought 8,0 million bags of Brazilian coffee, 20% of the total exported in 2022.
Specialty Coffee Expo will receive more than 450 exhibitors showcasing their most innovative products and services. More than 10,000 visitors are expected. On the Expo show floor, visitors can network with professionals from across the industry, including producers, importers, and baristas, also be able to connect and form new business relationships with green coffee buyers and sellers.
Brazil. The Coffee Nation
Is a sector project, developed by BSCA and ApexBrasil, focused on the commercial promotion of the Brazilian product on the international market. The objective is to strengthen the image of Brazilian coffee beans worldwide and to position the country as a high-quality supplier, using state-of-the-art technology resulting from research.
The current project has as target markets: i) Canada, United States, China, South Korea, Japan, Germany, Spain, Poland, United Kingdom, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for specialty coffee beans; and ii) Canada, China, United Arab Emirates, Chile, Portugal and the United States for products from the roasting and grinding industry.
The project also aims at exposing the exclusive certification and traceability processes adopted in the national production of specialty coffees, highlighting their social and environmental responsibility and incorporating a competitive advantage to Brazilian products.
