IZMIR, Turkey – For many, coffee is more than just a daily routine; it’s a name for deep passion and art. The most talented representatives of this artistry convened last week at the Toper factory for the 2023 National Coffee Roasting Competition, co-organized with Sca Türkiye. This event marked a milestone in the history of SCA’s roasting competitions: it was the first time it was held at a machine manufacturer’s factory.

The 2023 National Coffee Roasting Competition

This unique four-day competition meticulously covered all stages of the art of coffee roasting.

On the first day, competitors showcased their skills in laboratory practices and green coffee grading.

The second day continued with sample roasting and practical roasting activities. On the third day, competitors performed production roasting and presented their roasting plans to our skilled judges.

And on the final day, after a careful cupping session by our judges, the winners were announced.

First place went to Parsa Abedini, second to Orkun Üstel, and third to Alireza Razzaghzadeh.

Having the competition at a manufacturer’s factory provided an opportunity to delve into every detail of the roasting process.

Toper’s hosting demonstrated that the art of roasting isn’t limited to just a cup of coffee, but is also intertwined with machinery, technology, and innovation.

Toper owes a deep thank you to everyone involved in making this successful organization happen. Especially to the esteemed judges, the “Sca Türkiye 2020-2023 Team”, and all the participants who represent this art at its highest level.
