MILAN, Italy – Sector discussions often focus on the needs of the coffee industry – such as securing the supply chains, making coffee production more sustainable, and complying with regulations. But what are the true needs of smallholder coffee farming families? To what extent do the industry’s efforts actually serve to improve climate resilience and the livelihoods of farming communities?
The initiative for coffee&climate
The initiative for coffee&climate (c&c) discusses these questions at a two-day online symposium “It’s bean too hot! The reality of coffee farming in the era of climate change” on 21-22 February, 2024.
Farmer organizations, local experts, scientists, and coffee companies come together to present the impacts of climate change on coffee production, landscapes, and livelihoods and talk about the endeavors and potential role of industry and producers.
They will explore pragmatic solutions for better climate change resilience, adaptation, and mitigation and share best practices and potential pitfalls.
The participation in the online symposium is free of charge. More info and registration click here.
