LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y. – White Coffee’s BioCup will be featured at Summer Fancy Food Show.

Innovation is the hallmark of the Specialty Food Association’s Fancy Food Show this summer. White Coffee Corporation’s latest development, BioCup is the first to capture the ecological niche for biodegradable pods.

While Earth Day celebrations last week herald recycling initiatives, a basic waste product – coffee pods from single serve coffee — are a recycling problem facing every household. BioCup is both compostable and biodegradable with 90% degradation after six months.

With the growth of single cup packaging comes increased responsibility for waste disposal and White Coffee is committed to be a good steward of the environment.

“Our goal is to be the leader in the coffee industry in minimizing its environmental footprint,” says Jonathan White, Executive Vice President of White Coffee Corporation.

The popularity of the single serve cup is undeniable. According to the Seattle Times, “sales of coffee made in single-serve brewing systems, barely noticeable five years ago, now account for more than a quarter of every dollar Americans spend on coffee to drink at home. By 2018, market-research firm Mintel expects consumers to spend nearly as much on coffee pods as they do on bulk coffee.”

The Fancy Food Show serves as a coming out party for industry advances. Manufacturers, buyers and opinion leaders gather at the Fancy Food Show to “ooh” and “aah” the exciting new offerings. The largest specialty food trade event in North America is held at the Javits Center in New York City from June 28-30th.
