Expo Milano 2015 clusters are a journey through food. One of the key attractions of Expo Milano 2015, the clusters are the second way for countries to be present at Expo, and are a real unique aspect of the event that will take place in Milan from 1 May to 31 October 2015.

This will be the first time the clusters will not only be aggregated geographically, but also for food culture characterization and common challenges.

Positioned to achieve maximum visibility and added value, the Clusters bring together countries that share common features and address common issues.

But it goes further. Even countries that have their own pavilions can be included in a Cluster route.

The nine Clusters are separated into two groups.

Those keyed on the concept of the Supply Chain are located close to the east-west central avenue known as the Decumano, in between the Participating Country pavilions. These are:

  • Rice – Abundance and Security
  • Coffee – the Engine of Ideas
  • Cocao and Chocolate – the Food of Gods
  • Cereals and Tubers – Old and New Crops
  • Fruits and Legumes
  • The World of Spices

Clusters based on Theme are located close to the Biodiversity Park, an area of great importance within the exhibition site. These are:

  • Agriculture and Nutrition in Arid Zones
  • Islands, Sea, and Food
  • Bio-Mediterraneum – Health, Beauty and Harmony

Collaborative projects

The aim of Expo Milano 2015’s communal pavilions is that people talk, interact, and share.

The concepts and projects on which the Clusters are based were established during the Cluster International Workshop, an event organized by Expo Milano 2015 in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano University. Teaching staff and students from many universities around the world also participated in this workshop.
