BOGOTA, Colombia – In only five months, eight Juan Valdez Cafés have opened its doors to the public in different Peruvian cities including Trujillo, Piura, Callao, Arequipa, and in Lima’s two main shopping malls: Larcomar and Plaza Norte.
The positive reception has been such that Procafecol S.A, the company that manages the Juan Valdez brand, expects to have a total of 12 cafés operating in Peru by the end of year 2013.
Juan Valdez cafés in Peru allow coffee connoisseurs to be part of a unique story that begins by picking the best beans in Colombia’s mountains and ends with a perfect cup of coffee. According to Hernán Méndez, President of Procafecol S.A, “Juan Valdez seeks to become a relevant player in the Peruvian market during its first year of operations and increase its presence year by year.”
There are currently 238 Juan Valdez Cafés around the world. 170 of them are located in 22 Colombian cities and the remaining 68 are located in the United States, Mexico, Aruba, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Spain.
About the Juan Valdez brand
Juan Valdez is the only internationally recognized brand that belongs to coffee producers. Inspired in the icon that has represented Café de Colombia for over 50 years, in 2002 the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation, –a non-profit organization that represents more than 563,000 small Colombian coffee producers–, created the Juan Valdez brand for coffee shops and value added coffee businesses.
Juan Valdez is the world’s only coffee chain whose shareholders are coffee producers. As a result of the popularity and acceptance of the brand’s cafés and signature products, the distribution of Juan Valdez products in other domestic and international distribution channels began.
Besides being a synonym of high quality for premium Colombian coffee consumers, Juan Valdez´s coffees transfer a greater value to coffee producers and pay premiums for the development of social and environmental sustainability projects in coffee growing areas. Juan Valdez currently has 170 shops in Colombia and 66 shops in the United States, Mexico, Aruba, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Spain.
