World coffee exports down for second month in a row

World coffee exports amounted to 9.28 million bags in May 2015, compared with 10.54 million bags in May 2014, ICO’s newly released monthly data show. This is 12 percent down compared to May 2014.

Export of Arabica fell 4.4 percent to 6.049 million bags. Among Arabicas, only Colombian Milds rose 22.5 percent on year to 1.12 million bags. Other Milds and Brazilian Naturals were down 2 percent and 14.9 percent respectively.

Robusta reported a sharp drop to 3.228 million bags, down 23.4 percent on year.

Exports in first eight months of coffee year 2014/15 (Oct/14 to May/15) have fallen by 4.6 percent to 72.311 million bags in comparison with the first eight months of the last coffee year.

Volumes of Arabicas and Robustas were down 3.6 and 6.1 percent respectively.
Shipments from Brazil surged to 24.616 million bags, up 4.5 percent on year.

Exports from Colombia confirmed their positive trend totalling more than 7.9 million bags, or a 5.8 percent increase on year. On the other hand, coffee sales from Vietnam and Indonesia fell 15.5 and 29.2 percent on year.
