DUBLIN – Dublin’s iconic café, Bewley’s Grafton Street has been named ‘Best Tourist Venue’ at the 2013 Good Eating Guide Awards.
The 22 Award winners which were chosen by members of the restaurant sector include L’Ecrivain, Shanahan’s on the Green, The Winding Stair, Ballymaloe House, Gregan’s Castle, Dylan Hotel and the Earl of Thomand at Dromoland Castle.
The Guide which is in its 22nd year is published by Portside Publications and is available free from all its listed restaurants, and from the Tourist Information Offices throughout the country.
Sponsored by Tipperary Crystal, each of the award winners received mounted plaques featuring special edition restaurant themed wall plates by Graham Knuttel.

Located in the heart of Dublin’s premier shopping district, Bewley’s plays an essential part in the architectural, social, cultural, literary and artistic life of Dublin.
The flagship café became a haunt for some of Ireland’s most famous literary and artistic figures, including James Joyce (who mentioned the cafe in his book “Dubliners”), Patrick Kavanagh, Samuel Beckett and Sean O’Casey.
The centrepiece of the café is still today the six magnificent stained glass windows commissioned from the renowned artist Harry Clarke who completed them just prior to his death in 1931.
