FLORENCE, Italy – La Marzocco announces the winner of the 1° Pressure Profiling Grand Prix: Patrick Sinapi (in the picture with Piero Bambi, president of La Marzocco), the so-called “Barista Da Strada”.
This new barista competition format, with the Strada EP and pressure profiling technology, was launched on occasion of the event Fuori di Taste at Mercato Centrale, Florence, bringing together national roasters and baristas, journalists and opinion leaders from the coffee and foodie community.
After a challenging day of coffee shots, the last round of the Grand Prix consisted of a coffee blend to prepare in 30 minutes en loco, with mono-origin coffee from Brazil, Ruanda (provided by Mokarico), Guatemala and Salvador (provided by Le Piantagioni del Caffè).
The coffee blend was then to be extracted and presented to the judges in 5 minutes. Amongst the 7 competitors, Patrick Sinapi achieved the award (Linea Mini), ending up in the finale against Filippo Gadani and winning the judges with the best “caffé” – evaluated as the most creative and balanced one.
With a blend of 60% Brazil + 20% Rwanda + 10% Guatemala + 10% Salvador coffee, the winner presented his espresso as follows: “a clean and aromatic coffee with personality, ideally emphasizing the distinctive qualities of each mono-origin”.
Patrick Sinapi, born in 1976 in Itri, near Rome, runs his own coffee space called Bix Café. Patrick inherited a curious and profound relationship with coffee from his parents, recently obtaining several SCAE certifications after years of studies and research, journeys to origin, barista competitions and training classes.
Patrick is consistently seeking for quality, experiments and the latest news in the world of coffee, with a particular attention towards the trends and dynamics of the specialty movement.
