FLORENCE, Italy – From 4th to 10th April, in Florence, will take place the first C.O.F.F.E.E. (Cooperation for fostering education and employability) stage. The project was born with a main aim: to create educational courses about the coffee production chain.

Co-financed by the European Union in the sphere of the Erasmus project, it gathers in just one platform 16 people from both producers and consumers countries.

The cooperation rounds up 8 partners from 7 different countries: Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Colombia, Brazil, Indonesia. Dalla Corte provides its coffee machines at each course participating with Dalla Corte Iberica and the Belgian partner Schuilenburg Coffee Solution.

Schuilenburg always promotes education and coffee culture in all its aspects. “For these reasons, we support the Coffee Program: it is a unique opportunity to grow, to create a deeper knowledge at international level and share new experiences” explain its managers.

The selection took place on the website www.schuilenburgcoffeecampus.be, where the candidates sent their motivational letters. Desire to know and passion for coffee were the distinguishing traits of the selection process, ended with the choice of Zoë and Sarah, two young baristas from Brussels.

Thanks to the European funding, the participants to the project can offer, with a cheap formula, a professional educational training, facilitating not wealthy people. It will be possible to live every single part of the coffee production chain: from cultivation to producing, the final shipping, from selection to roasting and, finally, the coffee cup.

Partners of the project

Starkmacher e.V. no profit German organization, is the leading partner always involved in educational projects. The other partners are Caffemotive (Italy), Schuilenburg (Belgium), Fazenda de Esperança (Brazil), Yayasan Ekosistem Lestari (Indonesia), Tierra cafetera (Colombia), Dalla Corte Iberica (Spain) and IPPSAR Carlo Porta (Italy).

Dates

The first activity will take place at Umami Centre in Florence.

The participants will be trained according to the Coffee Diploma System courses by Scae; who wants will also have the opportunity to earn certificates.

In autumn a learning journey to Brazil, at Fazenda de Esperança.

In November again in Florence and, finally, in January 2017 an experience in Indonesia, in the regions where the Orangutan Coffee is cultivated.

Dalla Corte provided the coffee machines for the Orangutan Coffee Lab, an education centre supporting the coffee farmers involved in the biological cultivation project.
