After slowly rolling out its self-service burger kiosks with the “Create Your Taste” campaign, McDonald’s is now testing out a pour-it-yourself concept for customers’ coffee orders.

After spotting a self-service coffee station at one location in Chicago, Brand Eating reports that Mickey D’s is offering a designated counter for DIY coffee.

The beta java station includes a touch screen for ordering and paying via credit card, a beverage spout, and a dispenser for cups. And apparently you can order not only drip coffee but lattes, mochas, and cappuccinos with a slew of flavored syrups and different milk options for just $2.99.

But what’s the difference between this and making coffee with a Keurig or Nespresso machine at home? We’re not entirely sure—other than it might be slightly more convenient when you’re in a rush. Though, to be fair, when you order something from the McCafe menu, it too is automatically dispensed from a machine. So maybe this means we should all rethink your morning coffee routine.
