HEALDSBURG, Calif., U.S. – InHouse Ventures, a Healdsburg based investment fund today announced the acquisition of Taylor Maid Farms, a long-time leader in organic coffee and tea.
Started in 1991, on a 100 acre organic farm along Taylor Lane in Occidental, Ca, original owners Chris and Terry Martin grew Taylor Maid Farms into a Sonoma County icon.
The humble beginnings, included roasting coffee in an old barn on the farm.
Taylor Maid Farms has always been deeply committed to organic agriculture and sustainability practices.
The company has a long history of innovation, including it’s well known can refill program, which diverts tens of thousands of coffee bags and labels from landfills each year.
This type of approach was part of what attracted InHouse Ventures.
“Our fund is focused on acquiring businesses that can have strong environmental and social impact,” said David Cooper, Managing Partner of InHouse Ventures.
“Taylor Maid Farms was a perfect fit for our group, as they share our values around taking care of people and planet. We are extremely excited to continue building on the foundation that the Martin’s started nearly 25 years ago.”
InHouse Ventures is an extension of InHouse, a brand building creative agency in Healdsburg, Ca, who works with many leading brands in the natural foods and retail industries.
“After many years of helping to build leading brands, we are excited to begin a portfolio of high-quality companies of our own,” said Ted Robb, Chairman of InHouse and InHouse Ventures.
“We believe Sonoma County is a perfect location to build a food movement. Taylor Maid Farms is a great local brand, with deep roots in organics, and this acquisition gives us an opportunity to engage with our community through a shared love of coffee. We couldn’t be happier to have their team join us.”
InHouse Ventures plans to leave all employees and company leadership in place. Current CEO Rob Daly will continue to lead the company.
“For the past nine months, I’ve worked closely with the InHouse Ventures team. Being able to continue my journey in coffee with a dynamic and creative group is exciting.
I look forward to amplifying our connection to the community and providing amazing coffee along the way. When you consider their strong background in building brands, and national consumer products, we feel there is a lot of opportunity in front of us.”
InHouse Ventures plans to focus on building Taylor Maid Farms into a leading organic specialty coffee brand in Sonoma County, and the larger Northbay market. The company currently has one location in the Barlow in Sebastopol, CA, and many retail and wholesale accounts throughout the Bay Area.
Welty Welty of Healdsburg handled the transaction for InHouse Ventures.
