KUNMING, Yunnan, People’s Republic of China – ASIC’s 26th International Conference on Coffee Science took place from November 13th to 19th in Kunming, the capital city of China’s Yunnan Province.

Under the motto “sharing technological progress in coffee,” the event was organized by the Coffee Engineering Research Center of China and the Association for Science and Information on Coffee (ASIC).

The conference attracted more than 400 worldwide scientists and specialists from nearly 60 countries and regions, with around 300 research papers submitted. Chemistry, agronomy and pest management, genomics, sustainability, physiology, coffee and health were among the main topics treated during the conference.

The Association Scientifique Internationale pour le Café (ASIC) was founded in 1966 following two colloquia on coffee organised in Paris by the Institut Français du Café et du Cacao (IFCC).

It was created to fulfil the unanimously expressed desire of the participants at these meetings to dispose of a permanent organisation, which would periodically bring together specialists from all over the world working in the different fields of coffee science and technology, giving them an opportunity of presenting and comparing their investigations.

Since its creation, ASIC has organised a series of international scientific conferences in different coffee producing or consuming countries.
