The aim remains the same – to single out and reward the most innovative ideas for hospitality formats – but the formula is new and even more appealing.
HOSThinking, a Design Award, the international competition that was created jointly by POLI.design, the Milan Polytechnic Consortium and Host-Fiera Milan, is now in its third edition.
Entitled “10 Designers for 100 Products”, this time it will see the young designers who have been selected actually developing their creations ‘live’ over the course of the fair, which will be held at Rho Fieramilano from 20 to 24 October 2017.
Each designer will guide a project team made up of students selected from the University Master’s Degree Courses and the POLI.design’s Advanced training courses. Ten products per team will be chosen from the most innovative presented on the stands and will then be designed.
Applications to take part, including CV and portfolio should be submitted no later than 31 March 2017. A panel of experts will select the 20 best candidates, who will then be required to present their idea for an innovative hospitality format, drafted digitally, by 19 June 2017.
The ten best designs, chosen by a special panel, will be developed during HostMilano at a workshop organised on a Show Teaching basis, with the ten selected designers acting as team leaders and receiving a 1,000-euro fee for the development of their design work.
At the end of the presentations, the best idea will be chosen. The designer leader of the winning team will be awarded a cash prize, with the rest of the team receiving gift vouchers for cultural services.
It will be a unique opportunity also for visitors to HostMilano to witness a designer’s creative process, if they so wish, and follow the various stages in the process first hand.
