MONTREAL, Canada – RGC Coffee Inc. (RGC), a worldwide supplier of green coffee, announces its new subsidiary, RGC Americas. Based in Bogota, Colombia, RGC Americas will oversee quality, market intelligence and sustainability programs. Colombian based industry experts Steven Diaz and Angela Pelaez have been hired respectively as General Manager and Sustainability Manager.
“We are very proud to expand our operations in Latin America” says Ron Gabbay, RGC Coffee’s President. “Having Mr. Diaz and Mrs. Pelaez shows the serious approach RGC is taking towards quality and relationship projects.
Both individuals will be based in Bogota and they’ll travel throughout Latin America to oversee operations and relationships with suppliers.”
Steven Diaz is an agricultural specialist with 28 years of experience in the Colombian coffee industry. In 1989, Steven worked with the FNC as a regional quality control chief. In 1998, Steven joined Expocafe, where he became Commercial and Quality Director.
Steven served on the SCAA’s Technical Standards Committee from 2004 to 2014 where he co-authored the SCAA’s Arabica Green Coffee Manual. He is a certified “Q” Arabica grader and has certified SCA CQI “Q” labs around the world.
Angela Pelaez is a third generation Colombian coffee producer. She began her coffee career in 1998 with the FNC.
In 2002, Angela was appointed General Manager of Almacafe Pereira. In 2011, she joined Expocafe as Sustainability Director. Angela is a member of the SCA Sustainability Council and the UTZ Coffee Product Advisory Council.
