LIMA, Peru – Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PICTURE) met mayors of coffee-growing areas located in Junin, Pasco, San Martin and Huanuco regions before their trip to the U.S. to attend a culinary fair in Washington D.C.

Authorities will lead their corresponding delegations of coffee producers while at the Fifth Annual Taste of Peru, slated for Sunday June 4, 2017 in the U.S. capital city.

Held at the Government Palace in Lima, the meeting featured mayors from the following districts: Rio Negro, Llaylla (Junin region), Villa Rica (Pasco region) and Luyando (Huanuco region), among others.

Authorities claimed this will be the first delegation to bring the best roasted coffee and cocoa produced in Peru to such culinary event.

Their participation at the fair will allow them to see foreign market trends, buyer profiles, among other aspects on behalf of their organized producers.

President Kuczynski is committed to stimulating such productive partnership and reviving the coffee sector, which leads to production, trade and increased consumption of such product in the country.

While in the United States, mayors will hold a series of meetings with U.S. producers, suppliers, buyers and speakers, thanks to arrangements by Agriculture Ministry’s Sierra y Selva Exportadora program.

Sierra y Selva Exportadora is designed to promote economic activities —originated in Peru’s Andes and jungle areas— that allow growers to attach themselves to national and international.
