TORONTO – As the days get a little colder and a little darker, Canadians can also expect a little extra warmth – and style – in their morning cup of coffee. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc., (GMCR) a leader in specialty coffee and single serve beverages with its innovative Keurig(R) brewing technology, today announced a unique collaboration with Pink Tartan on a limited edition designer cup. The cup, released today, was designed by Kimberley Newport-Mimran, President and Creative Director of Pink Tartan, and will benefit the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation, a cause close to her heart.

GMCR’s Keurig(R) Single Cup Brewing System has become a staple within the kitchens and offices of discerning Canadians due to their patented brewing technology, gourmet brands, and the revolutionary K-Cup(R) pack concept that allows for the perfect cup of coffee each time without having to grind, measure, or clean up.

As Keurig(R) Single Cup brewers deliver a completely customizable experience with each and every cup to best suit the diverse tastes of Canadians, the partnership with a premier Canadian fashion designer couldn’t be more appropriate.

“Canadians have great style and taste – and we think that should be reflected in both what’s in their cup and what’s on it,” said Julie Pomerleau, Marketing Director, Keurig System for GMCR Canada.

“There are as many ways to enjoy your coffee as there are individuals – and we are delighted to work alongside one of the Canadian fashion industry’s brightest lights, Kimberley Newport-Mimran, to bring fashion-forward Canadians a custom cup that speaks to them.”

Pink Tartan, founded in 2002, is known for its urban style, minimalist sophistication and timeless elegance, a recognizable aesthetic that is well reflected in the collectable mug, which features an original design by Ms. Newport-Mimran depicting her walking her dog in a chic autumn scene.

“Life is about finding beauty and inspiration every day, a walk with Max, morning coffee, a deep breath,” said Ms. Newport-Mimran. “The opportunity to work with the Keurig(R) brand to create a fashion-inspired cup to savour your morning, that gives back to the community in a meaningful way really resonates with me as a designer.”

GMCR Canada will donate 100 percent of profits from the sales of the cup to the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation. In addition, Ms. Newport-Mimran has graciously agreed to donate $5,000 to the foundation.

“Every day at Toronto East General Hospital, we see the positive impact of a strong community – and that’s also what we see here in this collaboration,” said Teresa Vasilopoulos, President, Toronto East General Hospital Foundation.

“These two fantastic brands, Pink Tartan and Keurig, have come together to create something beautiful to support a leading community hospital. Toronto East General Hospital is proud to be a part of this initiative.”

The limited edition cup is available for purchase at Keurig.ca for $19.99 CAD. Coffee and fashion lovers are also encouraged to visit https://aperfectcup.keurigcontest.ca/en to design their own unique cup online as part of the Fall 2013 Keurig “A Perfect Cup for Everyone” campaign.
