MONTREAL, Canada – Keurig Canada Inc. (Keurig Canada) announced yesterday that Van Houtte has been recognized as an iconic Canadian brand by global brand consultancy Interbrand Canada.
Van Houtte was recognized as one of the 150 companies, organizations and institutions that ‘make us authentically Canadian’ in “The Interbrand 150: Iconic Canadian Brands Report: Our Time to Grow”, released in honour of Canada’s 150th.
Van Houtte has been part of the Canadian fabric for close to a century, founded by Albert-Louis Van Houtte in 1919 who opened his first fine grocery store in Montreal where he focused on his true passion: coffee.
With its commitment to high-quality coffee and a European single-batch roasting process – using the same expertise and know-how instilled by its founder – the Van Houtte brand continues to deliver on Albert-Louis’ desire to bring people the perfect coffee blends, every day.
“We are honoured that Van Houtte has been recognized as a Canadian iconic brand. Our high quality coffees are still roasted in Montreal, and this recognition truly celebrates our Canadian heritage,” says Caroline Losson, Vice-President, Marketing, Keurig Canada.
“We are proud of the passion and love Canadians have for the brand and are excited to continue to innovate – including continuing to roll out Van Houtte-branded recyclable K-Cup® pods across Canada.
Interbrand Canada included Van Houtte in its report for the central role it plays in Canadians’ lives.
From beer to banks, to sports and entertainment, and retailers to our government institutions, this report celebrates and honours all things Canadian, and considers why Canadians embrace these brands with such pride and affection.
“As we note a significant milestone in our country’s history, we reflect on who we are, where we’ve come from, and what we stand for,” said Carolyn Ray, Managing Director, Interbrand Canada.
“But this is also an opportunity to consider the vital role that brands, and the people supporting them, play in our lives. We congratulate all the organizations noted in this report and celebrate everything they have done to build strong Canadian brands, today and into the future.”
With more than 50 different blends, available in various formats like K-Cup pods, ground coffee or whole beans, Van Houtte gives each coffee a unique flavour and character of its own.
