We’re about two months deep into summer at this point, so if you’re still drinking your usual boring daily beverage, Starbucks is here to drastically spice up your tea game. According to a press release on Starbucks’ website, the coffee chain is now serving the Teavana Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion, a black iced tea with a yummy tropical twist.
As explained in the press release, “A twist on the Teavana Shaken Iced Pineapple Black Tea Infusion, Piña Colada Tea Infusion is a creamy and tropical beverage crafted with Teavana black tea, pineapple fruit and botanical blend, and coconut milk and joins the permanent menu.” Yes, you read that last part right — the drink will be available year round, starting today, July 24.
Starbucks notes that this beverage is a variation on the Teavana Shaken Iced Tea Infusions, a line of three drinks Starbucks introduced earlier this month. Flavors in that collection include Pineapple Black Tea, Peach Citrus White Tea, and Strawberry Green Tea.
If you’re a fan of Starbucks, you know that the chain is known for being accommodating to customers’ caffeine creativity — there is a lengthy secret menu, after all — so it’s no surprise that the coffee company has several suggestions for customizing the Teavana Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion.
You can order it unsweetened (just tell your barista to remove the liquid cane sugar); make it a tea lemonade by requesting the addition of lemonade for an additional 50 cents; you can mix and match the flavors of the infusions for a customized flavor blend; or you can request more or less fruit, botanical blends, or cane sugar to adjust the sweetness level.
The Teavana Iced Piña Colada Tea Infusion is available at participating Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada, and on Mobile Order & Pay. A Tall beverage is available for $3.25–$3.45.
