MILAN – The Council of Brazilian Coffee Exporters (Cecafé) reported an “unexpectedly low” volume of coffee shipments in September. Exports of coffee in all forms from the world’s largest producer of the commodity fell to 2,299,066 bags, down 25.1% on year.
Green coffee exports dropped 24.2% barely reaching the 2 million bags mark. Shipments of Arabica and Robusta were down -24.2% and -26.9% respectively.
Exports of processed coffee (mostly soluble) also fell sharply by 31.1%.The results fell short of Cecafe’s expectation of a roughly 20% increase in September from the 2.11 million bags seen in August, saying last month that supplies in the market were improving and returning to a more normal level.
