KUNMING, China – The establishment of the Asian Coffee Association was formally announced on Monday in Mangshi City, capital of Dehong autonomous prefecture, in southwest China’s Yunnan Province.
Xiong Xiangren, president of the association, said the agency would formulate standards for coffee, form a pricing mechanism, support brands, and exchange information and resources among the coffee industry players in Asia.
Thanks to its huge population and growing consumption, Asia is expected to become a new engine for the global coffee industry.
The Asian Coffee Association, initiated by more than 20 Asian countries in 2015, was registered in Colombo, Sri Lanka in July 2017. Its only representative office is in Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province.
