Internationally known doughnut and coffeouse chain Krispy Kreme is gearing up to open its first New Zealand outlet in Auckland next month.

After years of speculation about its arrival, the brand is opening a state-of-the-art store store and factory in Ronwood Ave, Manukau on February 28, offering dine-in and drive-through doughnuts and coffee.

The new store will employ 180 people and is expected to be the first of several across Auckland.

Andrew McGuigan, ceo of Krispy Kreme, Australia and New Zealand said the company had spent three years scouting potential locations before settling on Manukau.

“Over the years, we’ve been overwhelmed by the demand from Kiwis for Krispy Kreme to hit these shores and we are now extremely excited to be finally launching in New Zealand, making it the 35th country in the world to enjoy our much-loved sweet treats.

“Once our renowned Krispy Kreme ‘Hot Now’ sign is switched on, our Auckland store will be open for business and customers can expect to enjoy the authentic Krispy Kreme experience – warm, melt-in-your-mouth doughnuts, barista-crafted coffee and much more,” he said.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, U.S. The company was founded by Vernon Rudolph in the year 1937.
