Colombian coffee production falls 2 percent in the last 12 months

BOGOTA, Colombia – As a consequence of the climatic effects through 2017 and the delay in flowering, production of Colombian coffee in the last 12 months fell 2% to 14.1 million bags from the 14.4 million bags harvested between February 2016 and January 2017.

In January the coffee harvest reached 1.13 million 60-kilo bags, an 11% decrease compared to the 1.28 million bags produced in January of 2017.

So far these coffee year (October 2017 – January 2018), production was 5.1 million bags, 10% down from the 5.6 million bags produced during the same previous period.

Exports grow 1% in last 12 months

In the last 12 months (February 2017- January 2018) exports reached 13 million bags, 1% up from the 12.9 million bags exported in the same previous period.

In January, Colombian coffee exports were 1.13 million bags, 1% down from the 1.14 million bags exported in January 2017.

So far this coffee year Colombia coffee exports exceeded 4.6 million bags, 10% down from the 5.1 million bags exported between October 2016 and January 2017.
