NEW YORK, U.S. — Sensio Inc., a primary manufacturer of specialty kitchen appliances, has announced the re-launch of the Brim brand as a line of third-wave coffee products, in addition to the signing of Blair Smith as Brim’s brand ambassador.
Both the re-introduction and partnership reflect the company’s commitment to bringing consumers high quality products with great value propositions.
The debut collection will be unveiled on the brand’s new website (http://www.brim.coffee), which will feature educational product videos, digital interactive demos, brewing tips and coffee expert insights. Brim is slated for retail availability on Amazon.com and Williams-Sonoma.com in May.
The brand, which first launched in 1961 as General Foods’ blend of decaffeinated coffee, was acquired by Sensio Inc. and reimagined as a coffee maker in 2014. Now with the emergence of the artisanal approach to coffee, Brim will exist as a collection of coffee makers and accessories that celebrate the various third-wave techniques of crafting coffee.
“Since its origins, the Brim brand has stood for trust, taste and value,” said Shae Hong, CEO of Sensio, Inc. “We’re proud to continue the narrative of the storied brand and propel it into the third-wave coffee movement.”
Brim’s new collection will include a Pour Over Coffee Kit (MSRP $39.99) with 30-ounce glass decanter; Smart Valve Cold Brew Coffee Maker (MSRP $49.99) with patented integrated smart valve for a more user-friendly experience; an automatic 8-Cup Pour Over Coffee Maker (MSRP $179.99) with brew pulse technology to allow for full blooming; the compact and portable Electric Handheld Burr Grinder (MSRP $69.99) with gentle operation and nine precise settings; and the powerful Conical Burr Grinder (MSRP $99.99) with adjustable ground volume and 17 precise settings.
As added credence, Sensio Inc. has signed U.S. Brewers Cup Finalist Blair Smith as Brim’s resident coffee expert and brand ambassador. Smith will support Brim in its mission to bring the experience of craft coffee back into consumers’ homes by demonstrating product functionality, tips and tricks via interactive digital tutorials, video content and live demos.
Actively involved in the coffee industry since 2012, Smith earned her Barista Level 1 Certification from the Specialty Coffee Association and completed La Palma y El Tucán’s prestigious Origin & Craft program in Colombia. She has been both a competitor and judge of the Brewer’s Cup Competition and has placed in both regional and national competitions each of the last three years, including advancing to compete in the U.S. Coffee Championships in Seattle after competing in this year’s qualifying competitions.
“One of the most rewarding elements of being a barista is being able to share my passion for coffee with customers and getting them into brewing coffee at home, but sometimes the equipment can be overwhelming and intimidating,” said Blair Smith. “Brim has created an excellent line of products that not only produces great coffee, but also emphasizes accessibility and user-friendliness. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Sensio Inc. and Brim to help further this vision.”
