HAMBURG, Germany – Internorga has proven once again that it is the leading international trade show for the whole of the food service and hospitality market.
The 92nd Internorga came to a conclusion on Tuesday after five successful days, with all the exhibition spaces fully booked.
Internorga showed its keen sense of the top trends and topics for today and tomorrow, with new innovative formats such as the Craft Spirit Lounge, the German Gastro Prize and the Next Chef Award – on target for food service, hotels, bakeries and confectioneries.
That met with an enthusiastic response not only from the 93,000 visitors, but also from industry experts and top-level decision makers.
“That’s typical Internorga,” says Bernd Aufderheide, President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH. “Every year it scouts out the trends and presents them and many more key topics in a professional and creative way. Again and again, it gives new inputs and networking opportunities for the whole of the food service and hospitality market. That is recognised by our exhibitors and visitors. I am more than satisfied with performance and results of this show.”
Positive conclusions are also drawn by Christian Strootmann, Chairman of the Management Board of BHS tabletop AG and Chair of the Internorga Exhibitor Council – “Internorga delivered again. Each year it gives visitors a complete overview of the market, showcasing the latest products and trends for the industry. Internorga is absolutely on track. It is indispensable for market leaders, top-level decision makers and newcomers in the whole of the industry.”
Visitors give top marks
Internorga visitors gave highly positive feedback on the trade show – 93% of visitors rated Internorga as excellent or good, and 94% would recommend it to others. Those are the findings of a survey by an independent market research agency.
The percentage of decision makers among visitors was very high as usual, and there was a strong presence of visitors from other countries (6%).
That is the kind of performance that explains why Internorga is classified by the Association of the German Trade Show Industry (AUMA) as Germany’s only international trade show for the food service and hospitality industries.
Successful premiere of the Craft Spirit Lounge
Internorga continues to provide new inspiration for the industry. This year it launched the Craft Spirit Lounge, putting hand-crafted spirits in the spotlight. This highly specialised area is all about artisan spirits and high-quality distilled products such as gin, schnapps, whisky, rum, fruit brandy and vodka. Exhibitors presented their hand-crafted products and showed restaurant and hotel operators how they can surprise and delight their discerning guests with innovative products on the drinks menu.
Consulting for restaurant operators by ProVeg Deutschland
Vegan-vegetarian food has become an essential for consumers and at restaurants. That is why Internorga has taken up the trend and created a consulting opportunity for food service operators. It now works with ProVeg Deutschland e.V. as the specialist partner. This nutrition organisation was the contact point for advice on veggie food for canteen services, restaurant and hotel operators.
International conferences fully booked again, with 3,000 delegates
As the leading international trade show for the whole of the food service and hospitality market, Internorga 2018 once again put on a high-quality conference programme with leading international speakers. The three big industry meetings – the 37th International Foodservice Forum, the 44th German Catering Congress, and the 8th INTERNORGA Forum School Catering – featured well-known experts, practitioners and consultants for exchange of ideas at international level. All in all, some 3,000 trade visitors attended the conferences for exclusive industry insights.
Live competitions fascinate visitors and industry experts
Exciting, innovative live competitions provided inspiration for visitors and the whole of the industry again. Internorga presented the German Gastro Prize for the first time, crowning the start-up team ISLA Berlin as the winners.
The winner of the Next Chef Award 2018 is 26-year-old Marianus von Hörsten from the popup restaurant Tabula Rasa – Einfach.Miteinander.Essen. And Nicola Diana from Bad Schwartau took the title of Germany’s best pizza baker at the German Qualifier for the Pizza World Championship.
The 93rd Internorga will be held at the Hamburg Messe site from 15 to 19 March 2019.
