ICO – November coffee exports down 14.4% on year

MILAN – World coffee exports amounted to 7,842,838bags in November 2013, down 14.4% compared with 9.17 million in November 2012, according to monthly figures released yesterday by the ICO.  Shipments of the robusta variety fell by 25.7% to 2,560,017 bags.

Among Arabicas, shipments of Brazilian Naturals and Other Milds declined in the period by 16.3% and 16.9% respectively,, while exports of Colombian Milds rose 43.5%.

Exports in first two months of coffee year 2013/14 (Oct/13 to Nov/13) have fallen by 10.8% in comparison with the first two months of the last coffee year, says the ICO.

In the twelve months ending November 2013, exports of Arabicas totalled 68,205,791 bags compared to 67,622,538 bags last year (+0.86%); whereas Robusta exports amounted to 40,119,827 bags compared to 43,193,706 bags(-7.12%).

Worldwide coffee shipments of Brazilian Naturals and Colombian Milds rose 4.8% and 28% year-on-year, respectively, while exports of Other Milds declined sharply (-11.7%), according to ICO ‘ s figures.

Overseas sales from Brazil and Colombia increased  9,9% and 31,3%, respectively, whilst shipments from Vietnam were 18% year-on-year. Export from Indonesia (-1.4%) and India (-1.8%) were also marginally down.
