The operator of the Greek fast food chain Gregory’s has officially announced it will return to Romania and seeks to open 80 franchised units in the next five years.

The Greek group first entered the Romanian market in 2000, when it opened a local subsidiary, a production unit and a restaurant network with yearly sales of EUR 3-3.5 million. It closed its local business in 2017.

At the time, the reasons behind the withdrawal were the 2008 financial crisis, and the wage decline and rising VAT recorded at that time.

That is why, the chain started shutting down poorly-performing restaurants without being able to return in business.

The Greek group opened a new company in Romania and launched its first new restaurant in the Upground Office Building in Pipera under a new concept, Gregory’s Coffee and Greek Deli.

Over the next years, Gregory’s will develop its presence on the local market by opening new units all over the country.

“Using our own franchise model, the group aims to expand its network in Romania by attracting new dynamic franchises across the country. The company plans to open 80 units in Romania over the next 5 years”, stated George Makridis, CEO Green Break SRL, the company that owns Gregory’s in Romania.

Gregory’s brand is based on an innovative coffee & Greek deli concept, offering products made from quality ingredients. Those who visit Gregory’s can choose from a wide range of traditional Greek pies, delicious sandwiches made every day instore with original Greek recipes, freshly ground coffee and the famous Greek cold Freddo espresso.

Fresh salads, including also the famous Greek salad, Greek yogurt meals, and pastry products to satisfy the most varied tastes are added to the offer. A vitamin bar is also available, amongst other things, providing freshly squized fruit & vegatable juices, as well as low-calorie and vegan products made of carefully selected ingredients.
