Latin American Coffee Summit 2018 to kick off tomorrow in Puebla

PUEBLA, Mexico — The state of Puebla will host the 2018 Latin American Coffee Summit, an event of international stature, which on this occasion will bring together representatives of producers and buyers from 13 countries, informed Rodrigo Riestra Piña, minister of Rural Development, Sustainability and Territorial Organization (SDRSOT, for its acronym in Spanish ).

The activities will take place from August 10 to 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Puebla Exhibition Center, located in the Los Fuertes area.

Among the invited countries are: Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Panama, Costa Rica, Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala, Peru, Venezuela, China and the United States.

Riestra Piña said that once again in Puebla all the links of the value chain in the coffee industry for Mexico and Latin America will meet.

Experts will analyze the challenges of coffee growing worldwide and issues such as the organization of producers, their access to financing, purchase of inputs, as well as the coffee market and its commercialization in order to position their brands.

He explained that during the realization of the Latin American Coffee Summit, 10 agricultural agreements will be signed by contract between ten of the main companies that integrated the National Association of the Coffee Industry (ANICAFÉ, for its acronym in Spanish) and Puebla producers, which projects an economic benefit of 586 million pesos.

For her part, Luz María Osuna Delgado, director of the Latin American Coffee Summit 2018, highlighted that among the novelties of this edition, is the realization of a youth forum for the coffee sector, in order to promote agribusiness as an alternative empowerment among the new generations.

Through conferences, training, forums and workshops, among other activities, the Latin American Coffee Summit promotes the exchange of experiences with other coffee producing and exporting countries, the creation of international businesses related to coffee and its derived products.

As well as training producers, processors, roasters and marketers to increase the profitability and productivity of their businesses.

The access to the exhibition area will be free so that attendees can learn about and, where appropriate, acquire one of the 40 coffee brands that are produced in the Sierras Norte, Nooriental and Negra of Puebla and that will be present in the event.
