HAMBURG, Germany – The shortlist for the Internorga Future Awards has now been announced. The nominees impressed the expert judges with their innovative sustainability strategy, high efficiency and responsible action. The judges have now selected the three finalists from a large number of entries, in each of the categories ‘Trendsetter Product – Food & Beverage’, ‘Trendsetter Product – Technology & Equipment’ and ‘Trendsetter Company – Gastronomy & Hotel Sector’.

The range of nominations could hardly be wider, covering fair production of workwear made from recycled plastic waste from the oceans, to integrated, process-optimised coffee systems, and transparent producer communities.

Traditionally, Internorga holds the presentation ceremony on the evening before the five-day industry meeting, to honour outstanding players in the out-of-home market and their innovative concepts and ideas which set new standards. Entries were received from a large number of highly committed companies in 2019.

That meant the experts did not have an easy choice this year. The panel of five judges, comprising Dr. Daniel J. Dahm (university researcher), Carl-Otto Gensch (engineer), Rainer Roehl (nutritional scientist), Hanni Rützler (trend researcher) and Bernd Aufderheide (President and CEO Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH), selected nine concepts in a number of intensive sessions.

“The entries included a great many forward looking concepts. At the end of the day, the nominees came out top thanks to their outstanding commitment. They are investing in an out-of-home market fit for the future, and demonstrating a great deal of courage with their innovations. They combine sound economics with good environmental policy, setting new standards in the industry,” said Bernd Aufderheide in presenting the list of finalists. The winners of the Internorga Future Award 2019 will be honoured at a gala evening event on Thursday 14 March 2019.
