MILPITAS, Calif., U.S. — Ayla Networks, whose Internet of Things (IoT) platform-as-a-service delivers industry-leading device management and application enablement, has partnered with Hamilton Beach Brands, Inc. to develop a system for automatic reordering of coffee and brewing supplies.

Integrated with Amazon Dash Replenishment, the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew® Single Serve Coffee Maker leverages Amazon’s secure authentication and payments systems, customer service and fulfillment network for coffee replenishment and uses Ayla technology to provide the consumer with the coffee they need, when they need it.

“What could be worse than looking forward to your morning cup of coffee and realizing too late you’re out? The Ayla Cloud Platform and Amazon Dash Replenishment demonstrate how IoT can help brands like Hamilton Beach solve consumer pain points by ensuring they never run out of coffee,” said Mike Merit, Ayla’s vice president of customer success. “Shoppers expect smarter, more convenient kitchen appliances, and brands on the forefront of developing connected products will benefit from an ongoing—and profitable—relationship with customers.”

Giving Consumers What they Want

The Hamilton Beach 49968 FlexBrew Connected Coffee Maker features the HBConnect app built by Vectorform, an innovative product experience firm, using Ayla’s flexible mobile foundry platform. When a consumer buys the FlexBrew coffee maker and pairs it with the HBConnect app, they can enroll in Dash Replenishment and choose their favorite coffee for automatic reordering. “With Dash Replenishment, new coffee arrives at your door the moment more is needed. That simplifies things for the consumer,” said Ayla’s Merit.

“Automatic reordering of your coffee is just the start of many new innovations that make people’s lives easier, and their time in the kitchen more enjoyable,” said Atle Larsen, vice president of product marketing at Hamilton Beach Brands. “At the same time, we hope to have a closer relationship with our customers, gaining insights into how they interact with their home appliances and what features are most valuable to them.”

Why Hamilton Beach Chose Ayla Networks

Ayla’s IoT track record of having worked on more than 200 consumer devices, its ability to help take a product rapidly to market, and its flexibility across device types, were deciding factors in Hamilton Beach’s choice to work with Ayla on its first IoT product, according to Larsen.
