Brazil’s coffee exports reach record levels in May, up 103.5% on year

MILAN – Coffee exports from Brazil rose to record levels in May, according to the latest data released by on Monday by coffee exporters association Cecafé. Shipments of coffee in all forms surged a whopping 103.5% to 3.5 million bags, although earnings rose only 57.6% on year to US$416.2 million, due to lower prices in the international market.

Exports of green coffee 114.6% to 3.2 million bags. Brazil exported 2.82 million bags of Arabica beans, 95% more than in May last year, while shipments of Robusta coffee jumped more than 700% to 376,257 bags.

Exports of processed coffee (mostly soluble coffee) rose by 35.2%.
