SÃO PAULO, Brazil – Close to 730,000 60-kg bags of coffee got shipped from Brazil to Arab countries year-to-date through May, up 52.3% year-on-year. Sales fetched USD 86 million, up 17%. The numbers were released this Monday (10) by coffee exporters association Cecafé.
Arab countries took in 4.3% of total coffee exports from Brazil, up from 4% year-to-date through May 2018.
The figures point to a pickup in sales to Arab countries in May, since year-to-date through April had seen a 39.8% increase in amount and an 8% increase in revenue.
Cecafé said May coffee exports were the biggest on record for the month. Total exports came out to 3.5 million bags, up 103.5% year-on-year, and USD 416.2 million, up 57.6%. Average price per bag was down 22.6% year-on-year in May.
