TORONTO, Canada — Today, Starbucks Canada announced the launch of Starbucks Delivers, bringing door-to-door delivery service to major cities in the country starting this summer. In teaming up with Uber Eats, the delivery service will offer customers in major cities, including Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary, more ways than ever to order and enjoy Starbucks® beverages and food. Customers can choose from the majority of Starbucks menu for delivery from hundreds of stores nationwide.

The Canadian launch of Starbucks Delivers demonstrates further exploration of the test that began in 2018 in the US and further global expansion earlier this year.

Business Opportunity and Uber Eats

The opportunity with Uber Eats brings together the fastest growing meal delivery service in Canada with one of the largest food and beverage retailers. Starbucks will leverage Uber’s expertise as a quick and reliable delivery provider that is already well-established in offering customers a premier experience in a growing mobile and on-demand economy. Starbucks Delivers will also allow Starbucks to reach new customers who are using the Uber Eats platform, as well as offer existing customers a new way to include Starbucks in their morning or afternoon routines.

“Our success is rooted in our ongoing commitment to bringing exceptional customer experiences through significant investments in technology and product innovation. Uber Eats is the ideal partner to help share the Starbucks Experience wherever our customers are,” says Michael Conway, president, Starbucks Canada. “Learning from our global Starbucks Delivers rollout, we’ve incorporated unique company packaging and standards to deliver Starbucks products to Canadians without compromising the high-quality of handcrafted beverages, food and service they expect from us.”

The global online food delivery market currently represents a $95 billion opportunity and is projected to grow by more than 11 percent annually through 2023*. Starbucks now offers delivery service in 12 of the company’s global markets and expects to trial delivery pilots in other countries this year.

The Ultimate Convenience

Customers will be able to access Starbucks Delivers through the Uber Eats mobile app, available on iOS and Android devices. Key features of the Starbucks Delivers experience include:

  • Starbucks Experience: Starbucks has developed unique packaging and beverage solutions to ensure quality and experience of hot and cold menu items.
  • Customization: With the majority of Starbucks core menu items available directly from the Starbucks menu and over 170,000 beverage customizations available, customers will be able to create their orders to specifically suit their tastes.
  • Quick, Reliable Delivery: Powered by the Uber Eats platform, customers can follow orders within the mobile app, tracking progress and location of their Uber partner to ensure proper delivery of their food and beverage items within 30 minutes.

“We know that Starbucks fans are passionate about the brand and they’ll be delighted that they can now enjoy most of their favourite products whenever and wherever they are at the tap of a button,” says Dan Park, General Manager, Uber Eats Canada. “Order your team their favourite lattes for the Monday morning meeting or have lunch delivered to the park. Uber Eats is very excited about partnering with Starbucks to unlock the power of on-demand delivery.”

Starbucks Canada Leadership in Technology

Starbucks has long been committed to enhancing the customer experience through relevant and industry-leading innovation. Personalized, digital relationships with customers are important to the holistic Starbucks Experience in and outside of stores. Starbucks Canada was the first national retailer to offer our own mobile payment technology combined with a deep loyalty program, with a tremendous response from our customers welcoming these innovations and continued success as a leader in the mobile order space. Starbucks Delivers with Uber Eats provides an opportunity to answer untapped customer demand for Starbucks delivery in Canada.
