DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Coffee Planet, the Middle East’s leading 100% Arabica, specialty coffee roaster, has announced its Dubai-based roastery’s bold expansion plans, to increase its current output in the next few weeks. Located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, the roastery’s expansion is a much-needed add-on to the existing facility, and forms part of the local brand’s larger goal to facilitate new customers and clients within varying industries.

This follow’s Coffee Planet’s positive results in the first half of 2019, with more than a 25% sales growth following a record trading year in 2018 and growth into new territories outside the GCC. Part of the growth can be attributed to the private label channel, roasting coffees for both local and international coffee brands and with major regional deals being awarded.

Scheduled for completion in August 2019, this development will boost Coffee Planet’s overall manufacturing capacity at the 26,000 square foot roastery and further support the growth of local brands in the region.

Coffee Planet’s investment will see an increase in roasting capacity of 50% with a rise to over 300 tonnes per month – making it one of the largest home-grown roasteries in the Middle East. Coffee Planet produces 2000 tonnes per year with a forecast to at least 3000 tonnes per annum in the near future.

Managing Director, Robert Jones, said, “This is an exciting time for the Coffee Planet team. Our plans for expansion have been in the pipeline for a while, and we’re all looking forward to the new additional equipment to the Roastery. In a region where the demand for high-quality, directly sourced products are on the rise, we plan to enhance the level of competition amongst brands locally by applying the best practices and the latest technologies in this industry.”

Manufacturing additions feature a sprawling new warehouse that houses a new 120kg Probat Neptune Roaster. Clients and customers will delight in a completely revamped space including a welcome centre, new cupping room, spacious office, a fully equipped boardroom, and larger storage spaces.

After officially obtaining the ISO22000:2005 certification in January 2019, the brand’s expansion promises clients a faster turnaround time and ongoing seamless 360-degree approach to coffee solutions.
