ALISO VIEJO, Calif.. U.S. – The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is pleased to announce the promotion of Lisa Conway to Senior Director, Operations. Her new position begins immediately.

“CQI is increasing capacity and making innovative moves to better achieve our mission,” said Tina Yerkes, CEO of the Coffee Quality Institute. “Getting Lisa into position to oversee the entire suite of global projects consolidates everything from contracts and proposals to budgets. It makes the organization more nimble and gives senior leadership the opportunity to act as a high-level business development group.”

Conway came to CQI in 2009 and has been overseeing operations, the Coffee Corps volunteer program, and acting as board liaison She has also been involved in a number of special projects including the tours that connect producers affiliated with CQI projects with interested buyers.

“I’m really excited to take this role as CQI moves into its next phase,” Conway stated. “We recently passed our twenty-year mark, and I’m exceptionally proud of how the organization has matured.”

The Coffee Quality Institute is a non-profit organization working internationally to improve the quality of coffee and the lives of people who produce it.

Coffee has become more than a professional calling, says Conway. “I think every day about how our work at CQI connects to people, and the most meaningful time I have spent in this industry has been when I have been invited into a coffee producer’s home, someone who has been cultivating coffee for generations. You learn about their family, and it’s great to know that you are able to offer education that can impact even the smallest producer. That’s why we do what we do.”

Prior to joining CQI, Conway’s management experience included work in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, with a background in organic farming, sales and marketing, and youth and community development.
