World coffee exports were down 13.4 percent in October, reports the Ico

LONDON, UK – According to the ICO, world coffee exports amounted to 8.91 million bags in October 2019, down 13.4% from 10.29 million in October 2018. Exports of Arabicas were down 9 to 6.083 million bags.

Brazilian Naturals and Other Milds saw a 9.5% and 23.2% decline, while Colombian Milds recorded 13.5% increase on year. Shipments of Robustas were sharply down (-21.6%) to 2.824 million bags.

In the twelve months ending October 2019, world coffee exports of Arabica totalled 83.84 million bags, compared to 76.51 million bags last year, up 9.6%; whereas Robusta exports amounted to 45.72 million bags compared to 44.4 million bags, or a 3% increase on year.

Exports of Brazilian Naturals and Colombian Milds rose by 21.1% and 8.6% respectively, while Other Milds saw a 4.1% decrease.

Exports from Brazil neared 41.5 million bags, up 23.1% from the previous period. Vietnam recorded a 3.5% decrease to 25.675 million. Colombia shipped 13.65 million bags, up 7.8%. Export from Honduras and India were down 6.6% and 4.6% respectively.

On the other hand, shipments from Indonesia recovered strongly (+27.8%) to 6.625 million bags.

Guatemala’s and Nicaragua’s exports were up by 8.3% and 7% respectively, while Mexico and Peru saw a 13.1% and a 6.5% decrease in its volumes.

Uganda and Ethiopia, Africa’s largest exporters, recorded a 3.5% increase and 0.8% decrease in shipments.
